The independent Iraqi politician Mithal Al-Alusi called for the establishment of a strong regional international coalition to deter the regime in Iran and its forces and terrorist arms in the region, limit its threats and resist its terrorism that it constantly practices against the countries of the region.

“While the Iranian government sits at the negotiating table in Vienna, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Iranian-backed terrorist organizations are brazenly attacking civilians in capitals in the Middle East. Over the past five weeks, Iran has targeted the capitals of Saudi Arabia, Kurdistan and Iraq, its proxies and the terrorist organizations it supports now supporting ISIS” Al-Alusi said in a letter to the international community on Thursday.

Al-Alusi adds in his message ”Earlier this month the Houthis attacked Riyadh, the Saudi capital, with Iranian drones and missiles. Two weeks ago, Iran attacked Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan, launching 12 missiles from Iran that landed near the site of the new US Consulate. The IRGC claimed responsibility for the attack. Just days ago, the Iran controlled Hashd Al-Sha’abi terrorist organization attacked and burned down the party headquarters of Kurdistan president Masoud Barzani in Baghdad, Iraq’s capital. And most recently, terrorist organizations including Hizballah, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, all supported by Iran, have praised an ISIS terrorist attack in Israel”.

Stressing that Iran and its proxies are attacking innocent civilians throughout the region with impunity, and other than condemnations, there is no response to their aggression. These attacks are occurring while Iran still sits at the negotiating table.

Wondering “Why is there no response to Iran attacking our capital cities in the region? How long will it take and how many innocent people have to die before Iran is punished for its murderous attacks? How long will the IRGC attack us with impunity? When will Western countries wake up and realize than Iran is an enemy of civilization and peace?”

He concluded his letter by noting that he called during the 2004 Hertzliya conference, “we need a strong and broad alliance of all of our countries in the region against Iran and its terrorist forces. Today, more than ever before, our countries need to cooperate to oppose unchecked terror by Iran in our region”.
