The “Franso Hariri” stadium in the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan region of Iraq hosted the first athletics festival on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, for the children of the displaced and refugee camps in the Kurdistan region on the occasion of the International Children’s Day.

 On the occasion of the International Children’s Day, Barzani Charity Foundation organized an athletics festival for children of displaced and refugee camps in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, with the participation of 310 children of both sexes from 31 camps, with 10 children from each camp, for ages between 7-12 years, and the festival consisted of 8 activities, with Four events for males and four for females.

The “Bajid Kendala” camp in Dohuk governorate won the first place in the festival for the activities related to males, while the “Essian” camp in Dohuk won the first place in the festival for the activities specific to females.

The festival was attended by the President of the Iraqi Olympic Committee, Raad Hammoudi, the President of the Athletics Federation in Iraq, Talib Faisal, the Governor of Erbil, the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and a number of representatives of local and foreign organizations.
